What We Grow
Peonys +
At the heart of our farm are the peonies we grow in Mt. Olive, NC. Thanks to our warm North Carolina spring, we’re often among the first to harvest, with peony blooms beginning in mid-April. The season is short and sweet — and as it fades into summer, our backyard garden comes to life with bright blooms for our local bouquets and arrangements.
Who We Are
Our Story
After 15+ years as a graphic designer, I was ready for less screen time and more sunshine. What started as a dream quickly became a family effort, with three generations now helping tend the farm.
The name “The Cracked Egg” comes from the farm’s early days, when the property was home to laying houses for hens. Today, we use a small portion of that same family land to grow peonies — a labor of love rooted in family, hard work, and the joy of growing something beautiful.
What Makes Our Peonies Different
Grown with Care
Peonies bloom for just a few short weeks, but we care for them all year long. We hand-weed the rows, tend the plants through every season, and disbud side buds to encourage bigger, fuller blooms.
For eleven months, we’re focused on the details — the weeding, tending, watching, and waiting — all for that one beautiful month when the peonies are at their very best.
